Westlife Dating Fans? (From http://www.worldpop.com/)

Westlife admitted to worldpop backstage at cd:uk that they have dated fans in the past.

'Some of us actually have dated fans but it's never been a serious relationship,' Mark Feehily confessed, but added, 'I wouldn't date anyone for the wrong reasons. A lot of girls like me just because I'm in Westlife. That's not enough to get me out on a date with them.'

Kian Egan revealed that when he first joined the group, he was overwhelmed by the number of beautiful girls wanting to go out with him. 'But after a while you realise that they don't want me. They want a guy in Westlife,' he sighed. Kian admitted that the band's constant travelling makes it difficult to sustain a relationship, saying that very few girls are willing to put up with so much time apart. But despite his relationship problems, Kian said he has never regretted joining Westlife. (click here to read the whole thing)

Westlife Battle to Launch Album In Glasgow (Exclusive from Evening Times Newspaper)

As most of you know, "Coast to Coast" is released a week on Monday - and to commemorate this, the band are planning on doing a whirlwind record signing, starting off in Glasgow. However, there are some problems with this - the band have been denied a permit for the city. If you want to know more about this, I've copied out the articles (both by Brian McIver). Part one was in the October 25th Evening edition, while Part Two was in yesterday evening's copy... What do you think about this? Post it in the message board!

PART ONE

WESTLIFE GET RED LIGHT FOR CITY PARTY

Boy band Westlife were today banned from holding a party in Glasgow's city centre to launch their latest album. The Irish stars had planned to visit the city next weekend to meet fans and sign copies of new album Coast to Coast.

But Glasgow City Council has knocked back the application to stage the big event in Buchanan Street. It now puts any appearance by the band in the city in doubt. The number one stars release their new record on November 5 and had planned a  midnight party outside Virgin Megastore to let their mainly school-age fans buy it first.
They wanted to close off a section of the pedestrian precinct for several hours on the Sunday night until 2am. The Glasgow appearance was part of a national tour of record shops to promote the launch. But the council has turned Westlife down, fearing for the safety and well-being of fans.

Councillor Alistair Watson, convener of the land services committee, said that despite rejection, the band would always be welcome in the city during normal hours. "We are very concerned about the safety of the band's audience, who are primarily of school age, being out at that time on a Sunday night. "But we'll look very positively on any application for use of the precinct during normal store opening hours. We would be delighted to welcome Westlife to Glasgow to launch their new album."
Westlife, managed by Boyzone star Ronan Keating, have become one of the most popular boy bands in the last year with a string of hits. The lads have had six number ones including Flying Without Wings. They are playing five nights at Glasgow SECC in February and appearing at the Smash Hits roadshow in the city in December.

PART TWO

WESTLIFE KEEP BATTLING FOR CITY CD LAUNCH

Boy band Westlife were today desperately trying to arrange a Glasgow launch of their new album.
The Irish teen stars are bitterly disappointed that the city council rejected plans for a midnight party in Buchanan Street.
Westlife are releasing their new album, Coast to Coast, on Monday November 6, and wanted to stage a special midnight signing session at the Virgin Megastore on Buchanan Street on the Sunday.
But, as the Evening Times revealed yesterday, council officials rejected the application, fearing for the safety of thousands of school-age fans flocking to meet their heroes.
Despite the setback, the band are so keen to launch the album in Glasgow they are rearranging their national signing tour to accommodate a new earlier date and time for their appearance in the city.
It could mean the band coming to Glasgow in the days before the official release, and Glasgow fans could be the first in Britain to buy the new album.
A spokesperson for the organisers said the band were still keen to visit Glasgow first.
She said: "Following the decision by Glasgow City Council, and a number of phone calls the store received from fans, we are now looking to bring the signing forward.
"The band really want to have the launch in Glasgow and we will hopefully have the event during the day where more of the fans can attend."

Track Listing To New Album (from www.thesun.co.uk)

The guys new album, "Coast to Coast", is due for release, God willing, on November 6th. Before that, they have the new single out "My Love". Here's a sneak peak of the song titles, and the comments from the Sun website...

MY LOVE: The next single and a sentimental journey back to Westlife's homeland. It might have a few Irish ex-pats crying into their Guinness. 7 out of 10

WHAT MAKES A MAN: The start sounds a lot like Swear It Again. Quite a powerful climax. 7

I LAY MY LOVE ON YOU: An Abba-style pop song mixed in Sweden. One of the strongest tracks on the album - should be released as a single. 8

I HAVE A DREAM: Half of the double A-side that stormed the Christmas charts last year. It's been remixed slightly but it's still the same song. Will always remind you of Christmas 1999. 7

AGAINST ALL ODDS: Like the last track, you'll have been humming this Phil Collins cover well before the album came out - in fact, your dads probably were as well. 7

WHEN YOU'RE LOOKING LIKE THAT: Sounds a bit like Eighties Michael Jackson, quite funky and should do well in America. 7

CLOSE: Another ballad with a long, tinkly piano intro. More Bee Gees than boy band. A bit boring. 4

SOMEBODY NEEDS YOU: Very similar to the last song. A bit dull. 5

ANGEL'S WINGS: An epic festive belter with all the trimmings to have you tapping your feet while tucking into your turkey. A very likely prospect for the Christmas No1. 9

SOLEDAD: It's all change for the token Latin number - not bad with some nice guitar. 7

PUZZLE OF MY HEART: Another ballad which passed me by a bit. 6

DREAMS COME TRUE: Another Michael Jackson-style sound. The boys will be moonwalking next. 6

NO PLACE THAT FAR: A country cover. A nice, chilled-out vibe. 8

CLOSE YOUR EYES: More of the long, drawn-out piano intro. Develops into quite a powerful song. 6

YOU MAKE ME FEEL: Nicky and Kian take over on lead vocals and make a decent case for being the main lads in the band. 7

LONELINESS KNOWS ME BY NAME: Slushy lyrics - one for the romantics. Not my cup of tea. 6

A FRAGILE HEART: The first song the lads have written solely themselves. Not a bad ballad for their first attempt. 6

EVERY LITTLE THING YOU DO: A big ballad to finish the album off. Stirring farewell from the lads. 7

DON'T GET ME WRONG: A hidden slowie tucked away after you thought the LP had finished - as if there weren't enough ballads here already. 7

VERDICT: The kids will love it - but it's heavy on the ballads.

Westlife: "We're Gonna Trash You" (from www.thesun.co.uk)

Oh no! Not more band trashing! Well, here's the latest offering to the Spice Girls 'thing'. Let's hope they won't literally trash them, considering the rumours going around!

Here's the article, along with the phone numbers to call!

"CLUBBERS watched astonished as Posh Spice launched a withering verbal assault on Westlife's Kian Egan.

The outburst was the first salvo in the battle between the Spice Girls and the boy band, whose albums are released head-to-head on November 6.

Victoria stormed up to the bemused singer in London's trendy Chinawhite and threw down the gauntlet, snarling: "You've been very lucky with your No1s. Your single sales have been very low and we're going to trash you when the album's released. Don't mess with us girls or you'll get hurt."

A stunned Kian said: "She just came up to me and had a bit of a go. I was quite surprised but I'm not worried. Our album is the best thing we've done. I think it's a much better buy than the Spices. We'll just have to wait and see what happens."

Westlife manager Louis Walsh joined the fight last night by claiming: "The Westlife album has got better vocals than the Spice Girls album, it's more soulful and basically it's going to sell a lot more records. It's going to be absolutely massive."

Posh ought to be careful. The last time she threw down the gauntlet it was to Sophie Ellis Bextor and Spiller - and she got her fingers badly burnt. Both bands are desperate to be No1 at Christmas. Yesterday I gave you my verdicts on the albums.

The Spice Girls will be hoping their grown-up R&B will win over festive shoppers, while Westlife are playing to their major strengths - ballads.

Now you can vote on the year's big battle of the bands. Just call one of the numbers below to support your favourite."

Steps Snub Westlife (from dotmusic.com)

Ooh! One of my favourite bands slagging off my other fave band! Argh!

"Steps have snubbed Irish popsters Westlife accusing them of having an easy time finding fame. This is apparently because their manager is Boyzone frontman Ronan Keating and because they release singles in slack weeks.

The pop band have claimed that they have had superior album sales than the boy band, even though Westlife have gone straight to number one with every single they've ever released. Steps' Claire Richards told entertainment magazine 'Heat': "They've done really well but we've sold more albums than them and you'll go into a room and everyone's paying attention to them. . . Westlife get a lot of credibility it is very hard sometimes when that happens."

Her tirade continued: "I won't slag anyone off who does this job, but it's like we worked for a year before we got a number one and we worked hard. But all of a sudden, because they've got this manager who's really famous, it all seems to come easy."

Steps have only had one number one hit but have spent many weeks in the charts at number two. Richards has her own theory as to why this is. She said: "They always seem to release in a week where there's nothing else or there's really low sales so they've always just been really lucky.""

Westlife Attacked! From Dotmusic

I got this, from Dotmusic today...

"Irish heartthrobs Westlife had to leave a charity event in London last night (Thursday October 12th) after being attacked by a drunken reveler.

It's been reported that the chart-topping band were attending the Carlton Celebrity Auctions Awards but were rushed out of the building when a member of the public attempted to punch them after they'd just finished a television interview.

An onlooker commented: "It was really horrible. One moment they were smiling for the cameras and doing interviews and everything was fine then the next minute this drunk guy runs straight for them and tried to knock them out.

"Security jumped on the guy and dragged him out and Westlife were forced to flee despite the fact that they had other interviews scheduled because they were so terrified." The 'Against All Odds' singers were making a rare appearance at the bash, which was raising money for British homeless charity organisations."

Westlife Tip Top For Christmas Number One From Worldpop

"Despite Eminem's challenge, Westlife remain favourites to repeat last year's success, moving from 6/4 odds to evens, although Kian told worldpop he won't be having a flutter. 'You can't bet on yourself, it's against the law,' he sniffed!  Robbie Williams is third favourite at 9/2 and William Hill offer odds of 5/1 on past favourites the Spice Girls while Britney Spears is at 6/1 and S Club 7 at, erm, 7/1. The bookies reckon this year's big story, Craig David, has less of a chance, placing him at 16/1 while B*Witched, Girl Thing and Rolf Harris are currently at 100/1."

Westlife Are Coming To Singapore! From MTV Asia

"Here's the news fans are really waiting for. To promote the album, the group will be making their way to Singapore for a promotional tour from 27 November to 28 November 2000. It's true! This will be Westlife's only stop in Asia, so expect the event to be crammed with regional press and winners. Rumours of a showcase abound. We'll keep you posted..."

Bryan Cross Dresses and Mark has a new Girl! From the Sun

The Sun, today, posted these two pictures! The articles can be read on the Sun website, but I've copied them out for you all! They are so cute (Bryan and Kerry) and Mark's new girlfriend, model Lauren, seem also like a nice couple. He showed her off at the recent premiere for the film "Coyote Ugly". He said, "It's early days. I'm a young guy having fun!"

Bryan and Kerry... "HERE'S Westlife star Bryan McFadden apparently auditioning for his girlfriend's band.

Nightclubbers watched in amazement as the hunk, who is dating Atomic Kitten singer Kerry Katona, strutted his stuff in a skimpy red top, short denim skirt and false boobs.

The prankster had swopped clothes with Kerry minutes before hitting the dance floor at the Shamrock in Gran Canaria. Kerry, dressed in Bryan's baggy shorts and shirt, covered her eyes in shame as he larked about. One onlooker tells me: "Bryan was having a real laugh. He had us in stitches."

4th October 2000

Bryan just can't keep out of trouble!

This article comes from www.mtv.co.uk - I don't know if it's true, but I thought I would stick it up.

"There have been reports of Westlife's Brian McFadden rowing with his girlfriend, Kerry Katona from Atomic Kitten. Kerry apparently caught Brian looking at another girl in London's 'GAY' nightclub and was furious when that same girl turned up at the bar where the couple were drinking. Kerry is then said to have taken a ring off her finger and given it to Bryan."

Uh-oh, Bryan! First there was the Mariah and her boobs and now it's Kerry...what will happen next to his walking hormone? :-)

Kerry and Bryan (part 112!)

In the new issue of Smash Hits, released in the UK today, Kerry and Bryan give a short interview on how they are in love and how they met. The t didn't want to keep it a secret. If you want to read the full interview, please buy Smash Hits (I've got a new policy that once the magazine is unavailable I'll put the article up - that way I'm not putting the mag out of business, right?) and you'll also get a fab interview with Mark! Some lovely pictures as well...if you're not scared of tortoises!

Some quotes from the Kerry and Bryan interview...

Kerry:- "He's special and I don't want to let go of him. (whispers) He's really special." "I don't think many fans'll be bothered...I've got my own hate club on the internet. There are only 25 people out of 220,000 who don't like me, but these 25 people really upset me." "I can't help who I fall in love with."

Bryan:- "I fell in love with her the first time I met her." "Our relationship is the most solid thing in my life. She's the most important thing in my life." "It fifn't feel right lying to the fans. I hope they understand."

So, what are you waiting for? Get a hold of a copy now! And good luck to the two lovebirds - just don't get 'too' soppy!
